Doesn’t Australia have the coolest names? And now they have a very cool initiative.

I hadn’t heard of tongue-tripping Bundanoon until today when I learned that the town in New South Wales has banned the sale of bottled water. The goal? To curb taxes and protect the environment. Pretty smart, those wizards of Oz. It’s great that they’re launching a “Bundy on Tap” plan to provide easy access to tap water, but I wish they’d also let people know that pure, plentiful water is packaged perfectly within fresh fruit and veggies. It’s definitely a step in the green direction, though. Here’s another way to save some bills and help your health: pitch the plastic and invest instead in a snazzy SIGG-style bottle. Yep, I do love word plays. The cheesier, the better. Anyone up for a little veggie might?

hey jess, can we drink the tap water in london? i recycle all my plastic water bottles, even at work, but i realise that my water habit could be hurting the environment and i hate it. i’ve had a fear of tap water for years, particularly in london…(It doesn’t help that the water occasionally comes out brown..enough to scare anyone! also i had read research about heavy metals in water and was worried it was effecting the health of my family back in the US…we use ‘well’ water there…now we all unfortunately drink bottled water).
i’ve had Brita filters in the past and even used a UV light to ‘clean’ my water. i’m just worried about the chemicals they add to our water supply and the possible contaminants to our ‘well’ water back in the US.
let me know your thoughts!

Streuth. We’re an earth-loving nation all right :P A town in Tassie was the first in Oz to ban plastic bags too.

I am yet to get a SIGG but should follow the example of my fellow countrymen.
